The Open Seat.

The story behind Seat at the Table's new logo.

Sease Gerig unveiled the logo for Seat at the Table™, their signature event series, at Launch Fishers’ Coffee and Conversation. The mark — a table, a wheel, and one intentionally missing dot — captures a philosophy the firm has practiced for decades: make room for people, and real connection follows. The open seat is an invitation, not a detail.

This morning at Launch Fishers’ Coffee and Conversation, we unveiled the logo for Seat at the Table™, our signature event series.

The mark reflects an idea that has been part of Sease Gerig for decades: when thoughtful people come together in the right setting, intentional connection follows.

Seat at the Table is more than a series of events. It is an expression of how we believe relationships are built. Not through forced exchanges or transactional networking, but through shared experiences, genuine conversation, and the simple act of making room for one another.

The logo was designed to carry that idea.

A table. A wheel. A direction.

At first glance, the icon can be read as a table, a place where people gather to share a meal, a story, or a point of view.

It can also be seen as a wheel, suggesting direction, movement, and leadership. That interpretation is important, too. The people who gather at Seat at the Table events are helping shape the future of their organizations, communities, and industries.

The mark holds both ideas at once: people coming together, and people moving something forward.

The missing dot

One dot is missing from the icon on purpose.

That open space represents an open seat.

Seven dots. One open seat.

The absence is the point — a place held for the next voice, the next perspective, the next person willing to join in. Diagram for illustration; the production mark is the client’s final asset.

It is a visual reminder that there is always room for another voice and another perspective. The most meaningful conversations are rarely complete before everyone has had the opportunity to contribute.

The open seat is an invitation. It says that the table is not closed, the conversation is not finished, and the next person may bring the idea or experience that changes the room.

A tradition of friendraising

The philosophy behind Seat at the Table did not begin with the logo.

Long before networking had a name, Sease Gerig hosted small breakfasts and lunches with intention, bringing the right people into the same room to learn and connect. Our founding partner, Dr. Gene Sease, and his friend Jim Morris called this practice “friendraising.”

The idea was straightforward: when you make room for people, real connection follows.

Lou Gerig has carried that tradition forward over the years, including his annual summer gathering at Pioneer Village during the Indiana State Fair. That same spirit now shapes Seat at the Table, which brings people together in unique spaces across central Indiana throughout the year.

Giving the series a visual identity

Over the past year, Seat at the Table gatherings have taken guests to Anthony’s Chophouse in Carmel, the Robin Miller Room at Charlie Brown’s during the month of May at the Speedway, Victory Field, an Indiana Pacers season preview, and The Arena at Innovation Mile.

Each event has been different. The purpose has remained consistent.

These gatherings create room for conversations that might not happen elsewhere. They bring together elected officials, executives, mayors, nonprofit leaders, media and sports voices, and many others who help shape the communities they serve.

The new logo gives that intention a recognizable form. It connects the series to Sease Gerig’s history while giving it a visual identity for what comes next.

The experience is the point

Seat at the Table events are not built around an optics-first agenda. They are curated around a setting, a story, or a shared experience that gives people a natural way to connect.

“I’ve been in the city a long time, and I heard stories around the table that I’d never heard before.”

“This is such a novel way to build brand and community.”

That is what the open seat represents. It is a place for the conversation you did not plan, the perspective you did not expect, and the relationship that may continue long after the event ends.
